Why Your LinkedIn Photo Is Costing You Clients in 2026
By Vicky Benítez — Brand Photographer, Queens New York
Let me tell you something I say to every single client who walks through my studio door:
Your image speaks before you do.
And nowhere is that more true than on LinkedIn.
Before you say hello, before they read your bio, before they even click on your profile, they’ve already formed an opinion about you. Based entirely on your photo.
I know this because I’ve been doing this for over 20 years. And I can tell you, a great photo changes everything. I’ve seen it happen over and over again.
A confident, powerful image that speaks before you say a word.
4the1 IMAGE, Queens NY
“Vicky logra que todo fluya con calma… la experiencia lo vale.” Candido Rodriguez
“I’m not photogenic.”
One of my favorite phrases is: I don’t know what the meaning of ‘I’m not photogenic’ is.
I genuinely believe that. Everyone has their own unique beauty, my job is to find it and show it. And that’s exactly what I do at 4the1 IMAGE.
So, is your LinkedIn photo working FOR you or AGAINST you?
Here are 5 signs it might be working against you:
1. It’s more than 2 years old. You’ve grown. Your brand has evolved. Your photo should match who you are TODAY — not who you were three years ago.
2. It was taken on a phone with bad lighting. HD cameras pick up everything. A phone photo in bad light communicates the wrong message — and you deserve better than that.
3. Your face doesn’t fill at least 60% of the frame. LinkedIn photos are small. If your face doesn’t dominate the frame, you become invisible. Nobody clicks on a thumbnail where they can’t see your eyes.
4. Your expression doesn’t match your brand. Are you a confident executive? A warm and approachable coach? Your photo should say that before you do. That’s what artistic direction is for.
5. You look uncomfortable. This one is my specialty. Most people don’t know how to pose — and that’s completely normal! That’s exactly why I prep every client before we even pick up the camera.
What makes 4the1 IMAGE different?
I don’t just show up, point a camera, and hope for the best. That’s not how I work.
Before your session, we have a consultation. We talk about your goals, your brand, the image you want to project. I guide you on wardrobe, colors, and what to expect. By the time you arrive at the studio, you already feel prepared and that makes ALL the difference.
Inside the studio, you’re not alone. My team includes a professional makeup artist, an image consultant, and me, your personal director in front of the lens. I coach your expression, your posture, your energy. Because what I’m capturing is not just your face , it’s your ESSENCE.
You get multiple looks. One session, many possibilities. Power suit. Casual. Bold color. Close-up. You leave with a complete image bank, ready for LinkedIn, your website, social media, and everything in between.
And the best part? When you see your photos for the first time, that moment — that reaction — is why I do what I do. Watching someone’s confidence grow and their brand shine through the images is the most fulfilling thing in my work.
The studio experience
My studio is in Woodside, Queens — right in the heart of New York. It’s a space designed to make you feel comfortable, inspired, and ready to show the world exactly who you are.
